Yesterday evening I got a call from Laura Cummings at the Evening News. Laura was looking for a volunteer for the regular "high 5" slot, where people select their top five Edinburgh somethings. It can be anything at all - restaurants, things like that, Laura suggested.
"Right," I announced. "I'll do colours." I waxed lyrical for a while (quite a while) about my favourite Edinburgh colours (the drama of the overcast skies, the beauty in a chimneypot at sunset, the knockout yellow of daffs in spring). At the end Laura says, politely but slightly dubiously, "I don't think anyone's done colours before."
I put the phone down to find Adam rolling around laughing. He seemed to think I was being a teeny bit pretentious. Moi? Never.
Full credit to Laura - she wrote it up and my list is in today's paper in all its technicolour glory. Thanks, Laura!
