front page design

We’re delighted to have Front Page Design working on the branding for The Lost Book. We held the creative briefing this week and it’s very exciting to know their designers are working away on clever ideas for us. They’ll be presenting initial concepts to us next Wednesday. I can’t wait.

We’ve collaborated with Front Page on commercial projects since 2004, so it’s a delight to have them on board. Take a look at their print and branding portfolio to see the great things they’ve done elsewhere.

alt-w shortlist

The Lost Book, our new project, has been shortlisted for an Alt-w award. As a result we’ve been offered funding in kind through New Media Scotland.

The project will be kicking off over the next few weeks. We’ll be having lots of meetings with partners (project partners so far are Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust, Edinburgh City Council Community Learning and Development, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish Book Trust). We’re also doing a lot of concept work.

plasticine concept model - Aileen's dog
Here’s a very early character design model for Aileen’s dog. Aileen is The Lost Book's main character and her canine companion will be very important.

EIFAC abstracts

The deadline for abstracts to be submitted to EIFAC 2009 has now passed. We've received over twice as many abstracts as we can accept. It's great that there is so much enthusiasm for the conference, although I don't envy our external referees - they have some dificult decisions to make.

The organising committee is meeting tonight to talk about the next stage: telling as many people as possible about the conference so that we get a wide range of delegates. Registration is already open, although more details will be added to the website once the programme has been finalised.

If you want a taste of the conference, the papers from last time (EIFAC 2007) were published in a special edition of Particip@tions in May 2008.
